Thomas Stone advances to 4A East semifinals before losing to Broadneck
La Plata (9-7) beats Gwynn Park 3-0 in 3A South semifinals.  The Warriors
fell to Huntingtown 3-0 in the region final.
Huntingtown 3A South Region champion, defeated Bethesda-CC in the
state semifinals.  The Hurricanes lost in the state final for the second straight
year
Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada head volleyball coach Devin Scruggs has
announced the signing of four high school seniors to National Letters of Intent to
play for the Wolf Pack in 2007 including McDonough's Brittni Yates.
The 6' 1" Yates was a three-year letterman for the Rams in volleyball and also
lettered in track and basketball. This past season she led her volleyball team in
blocks and once blocked 11 shots in a basketball game. As a junior she earned
all-county and All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference honors. She played her
club volleyball for Virginia Elite.  Congratulations Brittni!

SMAC Volleyball
Congratulations to La Plata's Mary Lavery (first team)
and Anna Wells (second team) on being selected to the
2009 All-SMAC Volleyball team
The Northern Patriots finished the regular
season undefeated to win the 2009 SMAC title.  
Northern (19-0) defeated Huntingtown in the 3A
South Region final, Damascus (3-0) in the state
semis then knocked off River Hill, 3-1, to
capture the state championship.  The Patriots
have won nine state titles, including four straight
from 1994 to 1997.   
Playoffs -  Northern defeated
Huntingtown, 3-0, in the Class 3A
Region final.  The Patriots lost to
eventual state champion
Centennial in the state semis.
Congratulations to Thomas Stone's Mazi Tucker (first team hitter)
and La Plata's Michelle McCormick (second team hitter) on being
