Congratulations to the La Plata Warriors, the 2006 District 4 and SMAC tournament
champions.  Warrior sophomore Jay Dove hot a 1-under, 71 to capture the individual
title at the SMAC tournament. La Plata won the District tournament by 22 strokes over
Northern.

La Plata Senior Vincent Hancock shot a 72 to earn a share of the 4A/3A
State golf title.  Hancock tied with Northern's Sam Hoffer.

Warrior Sophomore Cody Burch won the District IV tournament shooting a
73 at Swann Point.
La Plata beats Northern 146-154  in regular season finale to win the SMAC
regular season title.

North Point - 2008 Class 2A /1A State Champions
The SMAC champion Eagles dominated the event besting Glenelg by 36 strokes, 659 to 695, winning the
conference's first state title since McDonough in 2001.  McKenzie Cutter finished fourth overall in the girls'
competition.  Cutter won the 18-hole Girls' Golf Challenge by five strokes while teammate Karen Eaton won the
9-hole Challenge by two.
Chruchill captured the 4A / 3A title with a two-day total of 662, 19 strokes ahead of fourth place La Plata.  The
Warriors, who trailed by just 5 strokes after the first round, finished just one stroke out of third place.  La Plata's
Jay Dove had the second best boys' total while Spencer Bowling finished 10th overall.

Warriors Capture 7th Straight Superintendent's Cup
La Plata shot a tournament record 301 in cruising to its seventh consecutive Charles County tournament win.  
North Point was second shooting 312 followed by McDonough (321), Thomas Stone (358), Lackey (475) and
Westlake.  Jay Dove led all golfers with a 3-under 69, six strokes ahead of Spencer Bowling (LP) and Cas
Dickerson (McD).

2009 District 4 Golf
Tournament
North Point Golf Dominates the County, SMAC in 2009
North Point easily defended its SMAC tournament title beating second place La Plata by
19 strokes.  The Eagles' Mike Hill and Mike Barnas each shot a 2-over par 74 to tie for the
lowest score.  Hill won the individual title outright with a 10-foot birdie putt on the second
playoff hole.  McDonough's Rob Taylor (76)  won a three-way playoff for third place, North
Point's Eric Sawchak was fourth.

The Eagles also captured the Superintendent's Cup, a match between the six Charles
County teams.  North Point shot a 324 besting 7-time defending champion La Plata by 9
strokes. McDonough (324) was third followed by Thomas Stone (383), Westlake (436)
and Lackey (462).  North Point's Mike Hill shot the low individual score with a 3-over par
75.

The North Point Eagles golf team won its second consecutive SMAC regular season
title going undefeated (12-0) for the first time in school history.  The Eagles took the
District 4 tournament with a 25-stroke win over McDonough.  North Point's Mitchell
Buccelli was the individual champion, shooting 72.  The Eagles finished third in the 4A /
3A State tournament finishing 14 shots behind first place Urbana.  McKenzie Cutter
shot a two-day total 159 to place second in the girls' individual results.  Cutter was also
second in the Girls' Golf Challenge shooting an 80, just one stroke out of first place.  
McDonough finished third in the 2A / 1A state semifinals, 7 strokes behind second
place Middletown.  The Rams were eliminated from the post season as only the top two
teams qualified for the state finals.  Cas Dickerson shot 81 to lead McDonough.
